This is my last report as President of the Orchid Council of NZ and I welcome Glenys McRae as the next President. I wish her well.
Other positions on Council have stayed the same and I know all members will continue to work for the orchid growers of New Zealand.
Last year was a year none of us would want to repeat with the Covid lockdown and restrictions, lack of meetings and shows. Shows have started up and meetings are in full swing, and with care this should be the way it remains. With the free travel between Australia and New Zealand we are able to welcome David Banks back as the guest speaker for the National Judging Seminar to be held over Queen’s Birthday weekend. David was meant to be our speaker last year, always an interesting and entertaining speaker; his input should make for a great weekend.
Sadly we have lost several members during the past year and they will be greatly missed by all who knew them. One society also decided to close, a hard decision for the members and we will miss them.
In closing I would like to wish you and your orchids all the very best for the coming year.
