I hope by the time you receive this report, life has returned to something like normal. I also hope you and yours are all well, both physically and on the job front.
Queen’s Birthday weekend was supposed to be the Orchid Council AGM, however as you will know this could not happen. As there were only enough nomination for Council positions there was no need for a postal ballot.
Two members retired from Council this year and I would like to thank them for the time they served you on committee. Jeanette Hewer as secretary and Anton Wehman on the executive committee, and I wish you both well. Bryan Sutherland takes over as secretary after Queen’s Birthday weekend and I would like to welcome on to committee at that time Sandra Simpson from the Tauranga area and Penny More from Christchurch, I’m sure they will both enrich the Committee.
A big thank you to Joy Hopson for all her work on the Yearbook, and the others who helped her with this through the year. If anyone would like to be part of the yearbook committee, especially if you have skills in that area please let me know, you don’t have to be on Council! Thank you also to the other Council members for their work on behalf of your societies and members.
Hopefully meetings will be able to start up under Level 2 with the appropriate care of course. It will be different, but please look after yourselves and your members. With luck societies may be able to hold their shows this year, I hope so. Take care and keep well.
